On Friday, November 7, at 7 p.m., a memorial service dedicated to Elżbieta Penderecka will be held at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. At the urn containing the ashes of the deceased, artists from Sinfonietta Cracovia will fill the church with music by Krzysztof Penderecki, Edward Grieg, and Samuel Barber, while actors Dominika Bednarczyk and Radosław Krzyżowski will recite poetry by Cyprian Kamil Norwid and Czesław Miłosz. All those wishing to honor the memory of the late Elżbieta Penderecka will be able to sign a memorial book.

The funeral ceremony will take place the following day, on Saturday, November 8, at 12:00 noon, at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. The musical accompaniment for the funeral ceremony will be provided by: the Polish Radio Choir – Lusławice, Iwona Hossa – soprano, Maciej Tworek – conductor, Jurek Dybał – conductor, and Andrzej Białko – organ.

Elżbieta Penderecka died suddenly on October 31 this year. She was a patron of culture of the highest order: the originator and organizer of important artistic events in Poland and around the world, and the creator of international festivals. She was involved in educational projects developing young musicians and also supported the careers of Polish artists and ensembles. It was thanks to her efforts that Sinfonietta Cracovia and the Beethoven Academy Orchestra were established. She created and organized the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival, considered one of the most important classical music festivals, for 29 editions.

Elżbieta Penderecka's involvement alongside Krzysztof Penderecki was of great importance to the world of music and culture. From 1965, she ran his office, and after the composer's death, she took care of preserving his creative legacy. Elżbieta Penderecka's cultural work, which spanned several decades, has left a lasting mark on Polish culture.

The family and co-organizers of the funeral ceremony of the Elżbieta Penderecka would like to express their sincere thanks for the help and support of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Małopolska Provincial Office in Krakow, the City of Krakow, the Jagiellonian University, the National Museum in Krakow, the Sinfonietta Cracovia Orchestra of the Royal Capital City of Krakow, the Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic in Krakow, the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music, the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Krakow, the Parish of Saints Peter and Paul in Krakow, and all the individuals and institutions involved.
