About
Music feeds the senses – it is a perennial idea, justas inspiring in Mozart’s time as nowadays. The Espresso Concert titled“Emotions and Senses” will be the opportunity to become more familiar with thesensory reception of music, and we will also take a closer look atpictorialism, a movement in photography that engages emotions and senses of theviewer to evoke a particular artistic effect. Our guide through the mysteriesof this technique will be Magdalena Skrejko, Head Librarian and curator of theMuseum of Photography. The conversation will be accompanied by the presentationof the works of Jan Bułhak, the Polish pioneer of pictorialism.
The main part of the programme will consist of theconcert performed by Sinfonietta Cracovia chamber musicians with an eminentguest, oboist Mateusz Żurawski. They will present two oboe quartets, by Mozartand by Dotzauer, music filled with classic harmonies that will certainly complementthe visual aspect of the Espresso Concert with a sensual feast for the ears.
The admission ticket enables the holder to enter thespace of the main exhibition “What Does a Photograph Do?” or the temporaryexhibition “Don’t Look Away. Thoughts on Olympia by Katarzyna Kozyra”.
